काव्य र साहित्यको परिभाषा

साहित्यः पूर्वीय आचार्यहरूका परिभाषा

काव्यालङ्कार’ नामक ग्रन्थमा भामहले भनेका छन्– ‘शब्दार्थौ सहितौ काव्यम्’ अर्थात्, शब्द र अर्थको सहभाव नै काव्य अथवा साहित्य हो ।

– ‘काव्यादर्श’ नामक ग्रन्थमा दण्डीले भनेका छन्– ‘शरीरं तावदिष्टार्थ व्यवच्छिन्ना पदावलि’ अर्थात्, अभीष्टभावपूर्ण शब्द–समूह नै काव्य या साहित्यको शरीर हो ।

– ‘काव्यालङ्कारसूत्र’ नामक ग्रन्थमा वामनले भनेका छन्– ‘काव्यशब्दो ऽयं गुणालङ्कार संस्कृतयोः शब्दार्थयोर्वर्तते’ अर्थात्, गुण र अलङ्कारले परिष्कृत शब्द र अर्थ नै साहित्य हो ।

– ‘वक्रोक्तिजीवितम्’ नामक ग्रन्थमा कुन्तकले भनेका छन्– ‘शब्दार्थौ सहितौ वक्रकविव्यापारशालिनीः बन्धे व्यवस्थितौ काव्यं तद्विदाह्लादकारिणि’ अर्थात्, अप्रत्यक्षात्मक अभिव्यक्ति र कौशलले युक्त भएर सहृदयका हृदयलाई आह्लादित पार्ने सुव्यवस्थित वा पद्यबद्ध शब्द र अर्थ नै साहित्य हो ।

– ‘काव्यप्रकाश’ नामक ग्रन्थमा मम्मटले भनेका छन्– ‘तद्दोषौः शब्दार्थौ सगुणावनलङ्कृती पुनः क्वापी’ अर्थात्, कथंकदाचित अलङ्कारले रहित भैहाले तापनि गुणले सहित भएका निर्दोष शब्दार्थ नै काव्य या साहित्य हुन् ।

– ‘साहित्यदर्पण’ नामक ग्रन्थमा विश्वनाथले भनेका छन्– ‘वाक्यं रसात्मक काव्यम्’ अर्थात्, रसात्मक वाक्य नै काव्य अथवा साहित्य हो ।

– ‘रसगङ्गाधर’ नामक ग्रन्थमा जगन्नाथले भनेका छन्– ‘रमणीयार्थप्रतिपादकः शब्दः काव्यम्’ अर्थात्, सुन्दर भाव या रमणीय अर्थ व्यक्त गर्ने शब्द नै काव्य वा साहित्य हो ।

– अरस्तु (एरिस्टोटल): ‘साहित्य भनेको भाषाद्वारा अभिव्यक्त हुने अनुकरणात्मक कला हो ।’

– हड्सनः ‘भाषाको माध्यमद्वारा प्रस्तुत जीवनको अभिव्यक्ति नै साहित्य हो ।’

– क्लरिजः ‘चेतनावस्थामा पुर्‍याउँदै सौन्दर्यको प्रत्यक्षीकरण र सत्यको बोध गराउने प्रमुख साधन साहित्य हो ।’

– वर्डस्वर्थः ‘प्रबल भावहरुको सहज उच्छलन नै साहित्य हो ।’

साहित्यः नेपाली साहित्यकारहरुका परिभाषा

– सोमनाथ सिग्द्यालः ‘सर्वसाधारण समेतलाई मुग्ध पार्ने अभिव्यक्ति साहित्य हो ।’

– रुद्रराज पाण्डेः ‘वैयक्तिक आत्मरागको प्रकाशन नै साहित्य हो ।’

– लक्ष्मीप्रसाद देवकोटाः ‘साहित्य सजीव अनुभवहरुको कलात्मक प्रकाशन हो ।’

Literature: Definitions of Eastern Acharyas

In a book called 'Kavyalankar', Bhamaha has said, 'Kavyam with words', that is, the harmony of words and meanings is poetry or literature.

- In the book called 'Kavyadarsh', Dandi has said- 'Shariram tavadistartha vyavachchinna padavali', that is, the intended word-group is the body of poetry or literature.

- In the book called 'Kavyaprakash', Mammat has said - 'Taddoshau: Shabdarthau Sagunavanlankruti Puna Kwapi', that is, the innocent semantics with virtues, even though they are without rhetoric, are poetry or literature.

- In the book called 'Sahityadarpan', Vishwanath has said - 'Sentences are humorous poetry', that is, humorous sentences are poetry or literature.

- In the book called 'Rasagangadhar', Jagannath has said - 'Ramaniyarthapratipadaka: Shabad: Kavyam', that is, the word that expresses beautiful feelings or delightful meaning is poetry or literature.

- Aristotle: "Literature is an imitative art expressed through language."

- Hudson: "Literature is the expression of life through language."

- Clarifies: "Literature is the main means of realizing beauty and realizing the truth by bringing it to consciousness."

- Wordsworth: "Literature is the spontaneous rise of strong emotions."

- Somnath Sigdyal: "Literature is an expression that fascinates even the common people."

        यसरी हेर्दा साहित्यलार्इ  जीवन जगतको एेना हो भन्न सकिन्छ ।जसले जीवन र जगतमा भएका गतिविधिलार्इ देखाउने काम गर्दछ र मानव हृदयमा बस्छ ।साहित्यको निर्माण काव्यबाट नै सुरू भएको हो । काव्यको विकास र विस्तार हुने क्रममा विद्वानहरूले अध्यायन गर्दै जाँदाकाव्यलार्इ छुट्टै धारमा राख्न थाले र यसको अर्थमा संकुचन अायो भने साहित्य शब्दको विस्तार हुन गर्इ यसले व्यापकता पायो ।

Seen in this way, literature can be said to be the mirror of the living world. It shows the life and activities in the universe and lives in the human heart. During the development and expansion of poetry, scholars began to keep the poetry in a separate stream as it was studied, and as its meaning narrowed, the word literature expanded and became widespread.
